Endorsements

2016

U.S. Senator and Presidential Candidate Bernie Sanders:

Bernie Sanders for Robin Chesnut-Tangerman

I have known Robin for many years. He has done an excellent job in Montpelier and will continue the fight for working families, the children, the elderly, and all those who are hurting economically. We need to return him to the Statehouse.”

Senator David Zuckerman, candidate for Lieutenant Governor:

Robin’s first term in the House was a success by any measure. He understands the issues, he stands up for his constituents, and he works to be part of the solution. As Bernie says, we need to return him to the Statehouse.

For a long time I encouraged him to run; I’ve now served with him. I enthusiastically endorse Robin.

Brad Touchstone, State Representative from Mississippi who conferenced with Robin this summer:

I had the pleasure of getting to know Robin Chesnut-Tangerman at the State Legislative Leaders Foundation’s Emerging Leaders Program in Charlottesville, Va. He and I are quite different (I am a conservative Republican from South Mississippi), but we were able to quickly find common ground on numerous issues. I wish him the best in his reelection bid. You guys have a great State Representative.

2014

Rep. John John Malcolm endorsementMalcolm, Pawlet (2004-2014):

“I support the election of Robin Chesnut-Tangerman to the Vermont House representing the Rutland-Bennington district of the towns of Pawlet, Rupert, Middletown Springs, Wells and Tinmouth. Robin is a very thoughtful and caring person who has the ability, temperament, and energy to represent our district well in discussing the many complicated issues facing Vermonters and the Vermont Legislature. His many years as a local elected official have given him the experience in listening and  balancing the variety of opinions on issues and a real-life background of setting public priorities, policies, and budgets. Please join me in support of Robin Chesnut-Tangerman for State Representative!”

Perry Waite, State Representative (1984-2004):

“I am supporting Robin Chesnut-Tangerman for Representative of the Rutland-Bennington district for many reasons including the following:

Robin was brought up on a farm and as far as I am concerned you can’t beat the education one gets from that.  Later in life Robin was in the crop growing business so he understands what it takes to deal with mother nature.  Agriculture is this district’s largest industry.  We need more people with a farm background like Robin’s in the legislature.

As an educator teaching at-risk youth as well as college students, Robin knows the value of a good education for all so that they will become valued citizens of our communities.

Being on the Select Board for ten years as well as many other boards, Robin knows the value of town government as well as the value of having someone in Montpelier to follow up on matters for the towns to see that things get done in a timely fashion.

Having raised his family and having a business here, Robin knows what we have all gone through and others are going through now – getting good jobs, the high cost of education, fuel, insurance, taxes, property, power bills and everything else that goes along with it.

There is a lot to being Representative and we need a person with Robin’s energy and background.  He will make us proud.”

Rutland Addison Area Labor Council (AFL-CIO):

Dear Robin,

The Rutland-Addison Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO, is pleased to unanimously endorse your candidacy.  This endorsement is based on your tenured service to working Vermonters, both organized and unorganized.  We strongly support workers rights as an important social and economic commitment to the Vermont way of life we so deeply cherish.

In Unity and Freedom.
